As part of the statewide Sesquicentennial
Celebration
(California's 150th birthday), a specially
commissioned
show "Heading East: The Musical" which debuted
in L.A. will
be making an exclusive one-time Bay Area
appearance at the
Smithwick Theater at Foothill College. The show
is a
funny, slightly off-beat musical about an Asian
family
retracing its footsteps in California from
1848-1998. A
very limited number of tickets are available by
advance
reservation only and will be held at the
theater. Cost is
$25/person. The show starts at 8:30 PM. Bring
8 quarters
($2) for parking. There is also a gala package
which
includes a preview of "Heading East: The
Exhibit", dinner,
reception with celebrity guests, and a ticket to
the show.
Cost for the gala package (a portion is
tax-deductible) is
$100/person. The gala event starts at 5:00 PM.
Celebrity
guests include Soon Tek Oh (Beverly Hills
Ninja), Elizabeth
Sung (Young & the Restless), Beulah Quo, Lloyd
LaCuesta,
Robert Handa, and Lorna Ho. "Heading East: The
Exhibit"
is a 12-panel pictorial exhibit depicting Asian
contribu-
tions and experiences in California. Deadline:
