Future of the Political Party Structure in Argentina

Torcuato Di Tella
Professor of Sociology, University of Buenos Aires

Torcuato Di Tella is a professor of sociology and expert on political and social structure in Latin America. He has held a variety of academic and research posts, including president of the Institute for Economic and Social Development (IDES) in Buenos Aires (1984-1993). Di Tella has been a visiting scholar at universities in Japan and France, and has taught a course on comparative political systems at Stanford's campus in Santiago, Chile. He is the author of numerous books, including Estructuras Sindicales en la Argentina y Brasil, Historia de los Partidos Políticos en América Latina, a two-volume  Historia Argentina, and the recently published Los partidos políticos: teoría y análisis comparativo. Professor Di Tella will discuss the process of adaptation of political parties and ideologies to the new institutional environment in Argentina.
