Elizabeth Katz, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, 
Barnard College, Columbia University and Visiting Scholar at the Center
for Latin American Studies and the Department of Agricultural and Resources Economics at UC Berkele, will examine the individual household and community level factors that influence the decision to migrate in the Ecuadorian Sierra, the ways in which women and men's migration patterns differ, and the implications of such migration for the sending households and communities.
