- I am a member of the High
Performance Networking group at Stanford. Our group studies
algorithms, mechanisms and architectures that can be used in switches,
routers and networks where performance is the driving factor.
- My research interests are circuit and packet switching, reliable
multicast and TCP flow control.
- Currently I am
evaluating the performance of circuit switching as compared to other
techniques such as regular packet switching or Optical Burst Switching. I
am also working on TCP
Switching, a network architecture that combines fine granularity
circuit switching in the backbone with an Internet that uses packet
switching. It uses IP flows to control the creation and destruction of
circuits in the core. Its name comes from the fact it is optimized for the
most common type of IP flows; TCP connections.

- Calendus the web-based
calendaring system used at Stanford University. John Fan and I
wrote it in 1998 as a hack for the student organizations of which
we were members, but it grew up to become a system used by 200
Departments and student organizations, with more than 1500
subscribers to its email notification system. You can also see this snapshop of it in late 2000.
- IBERIA.- the Spanish Student Organization at Stanford, which I co-founded in 1998. It serves as link to all Spaniards at Stanford, and it also promotes Spanish culture and history at University and surounding areas.

you always wanted to know about the Spanish names and never dared to ask(aka
why do Spaniards have such long family names)
