Pankaj Gupta currently leads the User Discovery team at Twitter, Inc. His interests are in systems and algorithms as applied to information retrieval, social graph analysis and networking. In 2008, he cofounded Phulki, a music search startup, which was acquired by Saavn. He was also the cofounder and CTO of Sahasra Networks before its acquisition by Cypress in 2002. He has also worked in Cisco and Netlogic. Variants of his past work on routing lookup and classification are currently used extensively throughout the networking industry. He is the inventor on 17 issued US patents.
Pankaj was the recipient of the Arthur Samuel award for the best Ph.D. dissertation in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University in 2000-2001, and a medal winner for being the first in his undergraduate Computer Science class at IIT Delhi in 1995.
